I mean really, when did the Internet get boring? Was it when facebook hit over 300 bahzillion users with 45 trijilion logging in everyday?
Was it when people decided that it was a darned good idea to let everyone know when you went to go get an ice cream? Or were heading off to the podiatrist’s office??? Yeah, it’s a great thing that I now can know where everyone is all the time.
On a slightly related side note on the boring issue… for those people who are worried about the whole big brother theory, where the government knows where you are and what you are doing all the time… well it ain’t happening, will not happen, and if it does I feel sorry for the poor computer or person who keeps track of all that boring and pedestrian information…. really if the government were to keep track of everyone all the time; it would implode due to sheer boredom!
I remember being excited logging into the Internet, be it dial up or broadband… there were new things to read. emails from people you knew, not people who wanted to improve various and sundry parts of your body and life. Sites with creative and new twists on everyday ideas… you were encouraged to explore.
I liken it to an information overload that has gone beyond all sense of reality… it’s a information sh*t storm my friends… there is too much of it, there isn’t a whole lot of good creative stuff, and all your friends are also buried under it; that’s why you don’t hear from them as much via email… no, they are too busy marking email as spam.
Maybe the Internet has gotten boring because we are sharing our oh-so-very common and boring lives on it. No longer an escape, the Internet has become home base…. what is the next escape going to be? Oil lamps and leather bound books? Actually that sounds nice.
