Ok, ever have an issue understanding what a ‘techie’ word means, or it’s origins? Well have I got a really great web site for you to peruse!
It’s The Wambooli Technology Dictionary, and as of this writing it has 3005 definitions and as advertised “many of them are accurate”.
Written and collected by my friend Dan Gookin, a writer of computer books and most recently a politician, he has not only put together the Wambooli Technology Dictionary, he wrote the web coding to make it all happen. No, it’s not just HTML, it’s PHP! If you don’t know what either HTML or PHP means, I encourage you to go have a good time looking them up. Dan has a wicked sense of humor and inserts it in some of his definitions… for example:
flame wars
(flaym warz)
An exchange of angry electronic mail messages, usually between two people who sincerely hope the other person gets run over by a train as soon as possible.
Good stuff, and there’s more of it waiting just for you at; http://www.wambooli.com/dic/index.php
