Today is the second day of my eldest Son’s first job.

He’s just turning 17, and he scored a part time job while here in Southern California.  It’s not much, a couple hours a day,  and it isn’t glamorous; he’s cleaning a restaurant.  But it’s important to him, and he wants to do well.  He gets up at 5am to arrive at 6am and work till 8am.  If you know most teens, that’s a huge commitment; especially on the weekends.

I can remember my first and subsequent jobs when I was his age.  It’s a world of wonder entering into the working world. And it can be hard and interesting. I hope that he will look back fondly on this first real job in the summer of 2010.
