MMWYC (Making Money with your computer) – Step one: be careful when choosing your business.
Watch out for get rich quick schemes, ether on the internet or off. If you have ever watched late night, and I mean late night TV, or watched during the day (a time period on television that a friend of mine referred to as unemployment TV) you can catch the 30 to 60 minute infomercials. You know, the ones that say you can make five thousand dollars a week, one hundred thousand a day, or even a million dollars in 6 months with little effort on your part because your computer will be raking the cash in non-stop using our exclusive formula! It will make money for you while you sleep, eat, golf, or clean your pool! Yes.. this all can be yours if you order our program. It’s crap.
Anytime that you have to pay someone to work for them, you’re not in business, you are their customer. The promises of what you could make, what you could pass along to your children, and how you would be really missing out if you don’t sign up/join now… You may hear alot of that. Of course if you do signup/invest/join they will provide you with what they say you need, and if you can’t make the money they suggest you could, well, it’s you… not their program.
It just sounds much better because it’s a computer, or the interent that is making you money. It’s the same old scams dressed up with a high tech finish.
Making money isn’t easy… it’s work. If it’s easy, it’s not going to happen, the money will flow away from you, not to you.The only real way you can make money with your computer is to use it as a tool to help you in your business. It’s not an ATM machine, it’s not the cure to your economic ills. It’s a tool.
Starting your own business is a scary thing. Some people have the experience, drive, motivation and sometimes the seed money to start with. Most people don’t. There are ways around this, and I’ll cover some of them in a future post. But I can point to lots of successful businesses that are huge that started out in someone’s garage (Apple, HP, and many others), but there are just as many not so huge businesses, let’s say good sized, that also have started out from a home office, there is hope.
If you don’t have an idea for a business then do some research. The first thing that you must research is YOURSELF.
What are your strengths and weaknesses, what are you good at. It could be anything! Just make a list and write down everything that you are good at it doesn’t matter if you think it’s silly or not… make an exhaustive list. Put the list away, don’t look at it for a day. Then go back and review your list of things you are good at and see if they spark any ideas.
Now, get on the internet and do research on the things you are good at… or jobs that encompass those things that you are good at, even better if you enjoy what you’re good at… there’s a better chance that you will succeed because you have passion for it.
I know this isn’t really directly related to your computer, but it’s important. It’s the foundation for all the great things you are going to be doing moving forward. Using your computer, you can search on legitimate franchise opportunities that could match your skills and passions. Once again, you need to research your choices completely, and there is where the computer does come in very handy.
If you already have your business idea, I suggest you go through the skills and passions research on yourself too. It doesn’t hurt to see if what you have matches what your good at. If not so much, then make some adjustments.
Next installment we’ll take a look at some good resources on the web, as well as some free face to face resources.
All of what is written here is for your information only, there are no guarantees of success from any of the suggestions. Success depends completely upon your choices and actions. I’m not an expert, I just have some common sense.
