Here’s an update on my quest to lose computer fat, get healthier, and become a bit of eye candy for my wife.

When I first posted that I was going to attempt to do this, I wrote that I weighed in at 300lbs. Well, to be honest, that was a low estimate. Actually I weighed in around 315-320. My weight would fluctuate quite a bit at times.  So, let’s say I started at 318, split the difference.

Why would I have not been that accurate in reporting my starting weight? Simple, I didn’t want to believe that I had crept up that high, and if I said it was 300, I could live with that more. :)

Today, I weighed in and was at 287.4 lbs. The night before I was at 293.  And this is pretty much how my poundage works.  I have been tending to hover around a certain weight, and then as the weeks go, I drop some more… the night time weight gets lower and thus the morning weight does as well.  Creep and drop, creep and drop.. as long as it’s heading down.

And another fantastic turn of events, I had to purchase new pants. Now, I’m not much of a clothes shopper, in fact I would rather do anything else than shop for clothing.  But when it looked like I was wearing denim parachute pants and my belt had no more holes that I could use to tighten it, my wife said it was time.  I started out wearing size 44 waist in jeans.  In trying lots of new jeans on, I found that I wasn’t quite a 38 yet (I could get a 38 on, but it looked like I had painted them on) but I was a slightly loose yet comfortable 40.  I drop two sizes, woo hoo!

So, how is it that I’m doing so much better these days?   Well, I’m working out now 3 days a week only. I’m doing say Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday… Start off with 30 minutes of Cardio; Stationary bike, eliptical, or whatever. Then 45 minutes of weight training.  This totally works against my sedintary lifestyle, and really makes me feel a lot better, much more alive!   My plan is to start adding Cardio on the other days….

I’ve been eating so much healthier and the thing that is really is helping me keep off my weight is what I drink.  I used to drink mountain dew like water. Now I’m drinking lots more water, and I have substituted Diet Mountain Dew for the regular Mountain Dew.  It really is my weak point, Mountain Dew, but I have gotten used to the diet version, and am starting to work on reducing the diet soda as well.

On to the next lower weight level….
