Someone who I know in the Voice Acting realm recently posted a video of himself doing a recording session. Which to watch is actually quite boring, as he states in the video (thanks for the warning Phillip).  Not to say that being a Voice Actor is a boring job, not in the least, it is an exciting fun filled world of always looking for the next gig.

I found Mr Banks’ video quite refreshing, sarcastic and well, fun. (That was after watching it a number of times to catch the British humor, I am an American for goodness sakes.)  But he is absolutely correct that more Voice Actors are videoing (is that really a word? Makes more sense than video taping since there is really no tape involved any longer..) their recording sessions and posting them on YouTube et al… It’s kind of like videoing someone watching grass grow or watching paint dry.

Now it would be more exciting if Voice Actors had some kind of feedback loop when doing their sessions.. (that is if you are capturing it on video…) a slight electric shock if the client thinks that the read was not up to snuff, or awful. And if the read is good, a treat is dispensed to encourage the Voice Actor.  Kind of like a gameshow.. Or like the chicken that plays tic-tac-toe against people at the county fair. Well, watch the video, I think you may like it… or not..

Warning: Phillip Banks has very dry humor, and slings funny stuff quicker than the silverback Gorilla at the Zoo can fling poo…
